Dr Abdulaziz Diyab named professor of Prince Mishal Bin Majed Chair for Business Cover-up

Prof Abdulaziz Diyab has been appointed as professor of the KAU-based Prince Mishal Bin Majed Chair for Business Cover-up (Tasatur Tijari) Studies pursuant to a recent administrative order made by Dr Ahmed Nagadi, Vice President for Business and Knowledge Creativity.
 
Prof Diyab's appointment contract was signed at Dr Nagadi's office on Monday December 3rd in the presence of Prof Hussam Al-Angari, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administration, Prof Tawfik A. Khayal, Vice Dean, Dr Sulaiman Al-Sheikh, Vice Dean for Development, Dr Mohamed Al-Habib, Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, Dr Essam Habes, Head of the Department of Economics, Dr Ayman Fadel, Dean of Student Affairs and the Chair's Supervisor, and Dr Abdullah Al-Ghamdi, Dean of the KAU Research and Consulting Institute (RACI).
 
The chair was launched about a month back at a ceremony held at Jeddah Governorate in the presence of Prince Mishal Bin Majed, Governor of Jeddah, and Prof Osama S. Tayyeb, KAU President.
 
The purpose of the chair is to conduct research on the economic and social impact of Tasatur (providing cover for expatriates to illegally run their own business activities) on the Saudi society and ways to combat the phenomenon.
 
Prof Diyab graduated from King Abdulaziz University in 1975 with a BA in economics. 
 
In 1979, he got an MA in economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara, USA.
 
He earned his PhD in urban and regional economics from Florida State University in Tallahassee, USA, in 1984.
 
During his impressive career, Prof Diyab has occupied a number of posts. He served as deputy director and later director of the Research and Development Centre of the Faculty of Economics and Administration. He also assumed the position of the vice dean for postgraduate studies and scientific research.
 
He is also a member of various local and international societies, including, among others, the Saudi Economic Association (SEA) and the American Economic Association (AEA).
